而日本JPNIC於今年3月底發表IPv4位址枯竭的報告並於七月底發表該報告的英文版[註一]。藉由彙整各國網際網路專家學者所進行的資料，來瞭解目前IPv4位址核發狀態，及提供如何因應之道。
在此報告中，JPNIC列舉出APNIC的Geoff Huston及Cisco的Tony Hain於各個時間點的相關預測，如之下表，預估大概在2012年時IANA將無IPv4位址可發，而全球各區域網路資訊中心也將於2013年時IPv4位址將核發完畢。

JPNIC在此報告中提出正視此問題的產生，並建議位址核發單位加強IPv4位址的管理及ISP加速導入IPv6位址網路，以減少因應IPv4位址枯竭所造成的衝擊。
