Cisco Systems, October 1994-present (Cisco Fellow)
Weighted Fair Queuing, Weighted RED, Resource Reservation Protocol
(RSVP), Traffic Shaping, TCP Pacing, and other congestion management
behaviors. As Cisco Fellow, advise senior management of important
industry directions and the corporate product strategies they
require. IETF Chair during this time, advised Cisco engineers
and management on relations with various standards activities
including IETF.
Advanced Computer Communications, 1990-1994 (Software Systems
Architect)
Completed port of U of M OSPF; implemented dial control, Express
Queuing, Frame Relay interfaces for various protocols. Member
of architectural team. Interacted with OEMs, VARs, customers,
marketing, and hardware development.
Vitalink Communications, 1983-1990 (Principal Engineer)
Original TransLAN implementor. Architected and led implementation
of TransPATH
Multiprotocol Router. Developed XNS, IPX, and IP modules; designed
and implemented SPF based routing protocol. Interacted with customers,
marketing, and hardware development.
Control Data Corporation, 1978-1983 (Principal Programmer/Analyst)
Designed and implemented CDNA Executive and XNS Sequenced Packet
Transport. (1981-1983)
Developed on-line diagnostics for Doelz Networks-based system.
